Jacqui Devaney’s writing appears in The Wall Street Journal, The Porter House Review and is forthcoming from Dispatches Magazine. Her work investigates what it means to live outside of societal expectations and is particularly preoccupied with female friendship and class. She is currently working toward an MFA at Texas State University and is half of the DJ duo Horse Opera.

In her current project, a novel, she is pursuing a deeper understanding of female friendship, questioning what makes a lifelong friendship fall apart, destined to become a metaphorical haunting. She also writes a weekly newsletter, Dinner Music, which curates “esoteric grooves that your favorite wine bar might play.”

In 2024, she was selected for a Writing by Writers Residency in Breckenridge, Colorado.
